Sorbitol Tolerance Test, Thymol Turbidity Test and Changes of Serum Protein in Various Hepatic Diseases

Abstract
Comparision with sorbitol tolerance test, thymol turbidity test and changes of serum protein (total protein, albumin and globulin) was carried put in 50 cases of various.liver diseases. Liver biopsy was done in 19 cases.
The results were as following;
1. There was no relationship between sorbitol tolerance test and thymol turbidity test in a view of liver function test.
2. Sorbitol tolerance test has no relationship with changes of total serum protein, albumin and globulin.
3. Thymol turbidity test has a relationship with changes of albumin and globulin fraction.
4. We observed that sorbitol tolerance test was more sensitive to reflect the hepatocellular damage than thymol turbidity test in 19 biopsied cases which revealed as acute hepatitis, chronic active or inactive, hepatitis, cirrhosis of liver and hepatoma.
